This time, a year ago, I was married to my wonderful husband. We said our I do’s on October 18th ’09. With the fall and winter seasons being our favorite time of year, we had picked the month of October, mostly because of the mild and beautiful weather. Surprisingly, I would say that our wedding day was the coldest day we had all year…ok, well not quite that bad, but it surely felt like it! It was, at least, the coldest day all month (our ceremony was outside) !! Despite the chills, we had an amazing day in all, and it is one that we will not soon forget!
Todd and I saw each other before the wedding ceremony; the main reason being for photography purposes. The most memorable moment of the entire day, to me, was the moment I first saw Todd. Our photos were taken by the super talented Elly’s Photography. Our ceremony and reception took place at the GORGEOUS Revolution Mills in Greensboro and we celebrated with tunes played by the coolest DJ, Friendly Neighborhood DJ.
I can’t believe a year has already gone by…
This week I went through some of my accessories that I wore at the wedding…shoes (dyed green!!), earrings, bracelet, and the top layer of our cake that should be in the freezer, but isn’t…it was too yummy. We never saved the top layer of our cake. We ate it all. For our anniversary, Todd had the awesome idea to buy a new cake…and so we did. We returned to Delicious bakery for the divine Coconut cake. They totally live up to their name, and then some.
For our honeymoon we went to Negril, Jamaica. It was amazing!! I would totally recommend it to anyone! It was the perfect honeymoon for several reasons: we got to relax on the beach all week, soak up the sun, enjoy the water and water sports, and not have any sort of schedule. For our one year, Todd planned something and kept it a secret. If you’re married, you know that it is hard to keep secrets from each other!! I wasn’t as nosy as I usually would be, because I knew whatever he had planned was going to be great.
To celebrate, he took me on a two night trip to Wrightsville Beach. It was perfect. It was exactly what I wanted. He knows me so well. The weather was beautiful (what you would expect for October); warm enough to sit on the beach and soak up some sun, and at night, a light breeze just cool enough to get you excited about the hot tub.
The only thing I regret about our trip is that I didn’t have any good camera equipment, except for my point and shoot. We had a lot of fun, however, setting the timer and then running in front of the lens.
I love Todd’s face…
Dusk brought out some GORGEOUS pastel colors…
What an amazing sky….
We had an amazing anniversary, and I am blessed with such a wonderful husband! Here’s to one year!!
